Ongoing Tango Club of Albuquerque events at Lloyd Shaw Dance Center, 5506 Coal SE (not the one-way Coal), Albuquerque, New Mexico. Located two blocks south of Central; 2nd block east of San Mateo, between Central & Zuni. [Map]

Please no street shoes or shoes that leave marks on the dance floor, per venue manager's request/signage.

Tuesday Night Milonga, 8:00-10:30pm. $3 members; $5 guests. FREE for
first-time attendees. Refreshments served. 7/7 DJ: Paul Akmajian.

New! Free introductory Argentine Tango dance class, Tuesdays, 7:30-8:00pm at Lloyd Shaw. Rotating teachers. Subsequent lessons $5 (includes entrance to Tuesday Night Milonga from 8:00-10:30pm).

No Saturday Afternoon Practica on the 4th of July.

Old Town is in the NW quadrant of Albuquerque & is bordered by Rio Grande Blvd on the west, Mountain Rd on the north, Central Ave. on the south. From Santa Fe/North: I-25 south to I-40 west; exit Rio Grande Blvd; south on Rio Grande (stay in your left lane) to Mountain Rd. Tango on the Radio

"Corazón Tanguero," a radio program devoted to Argentine Tango, is on the air on 1st & 3rd Mondays on KUNM (89.9 FM), 9:30-10:00pm. Hosted by Jenny DeBouzek on the 1st Monday & by Sebastian Pais on the 3rd Monday. Jenny also hosts the Global Music Program on the 1st Monday of the month, 10:00pm-1:00am. Argentine Tango with Tara Fortier, July 11-12 in Taos at Taos Tango Studio, 204 Bendix Drive, Unit E.
Tara Fortier is a very beautiful, elegant and yet an extremely powerful dancer. Known as an excellent leader and follower, she has been teaching tango internationally since 2003 and is one of the few North Americans who has taught at a major festival in Buenos Aires. With a clear and precise perspective on the dance, Tara emphasizes natural movement and clear body mechanics in her teaching and her dancing. All classes with be packed with follower and leader technique.
Sat July 11: Followers Technique, 1:00-2:30pm; Drags and Sacadas, 2:45-4:15pm.
Saturday Night Milonga, 8:00pm-12am. DJ: Mike Malixi. Location TBA.
Sun July 12: Boleos, 12-1:30pm; Ganchos, 1:45-3:15pm.
$20/class or $70/all 4 classes.

The Heart of Milonguero Tango, July 12-October 11, Int. level series of workshop classes in Albuquerque with Liz Haight, assisted by Masami Hirokawa at Lloyd Shaw Dance Center. Sun July 12: Women’s Technique, 2:00-3:15pm; Balance, Stability and Axis for Leaders and Followers, 3:30-4:45pm. Flier with full schedule & details.
This series is intended for intermediate level dancers. Beginners or those new to on-body dancing may attend, but must bring their own partners to work with throughout the classes. Classes can be attended separately but most will be gained by attending classes sequentially. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register before class begins.
Full Pass (7 days/14 classes) paid by July 12: $180 for women; $165 for men.
By day or class: $30/day or $20/class.
Next dates: 8/2, 16 & 30; 9/13 & 27; 10/11.

Santa Fe Tango on the Plaza, Sun July 12, 6:00-9:00pm. The Santa Fe Plaza Gazebo is booked for three Sunday evenings this summer. DJs: Masami & Liz. Cost: SF Tango cannot charge an admittance fee for this event, but would very much appreciate donations towards their expenses before or after the milonga. Food & drinks: Choose from numerous restaurants in downtown Santa Fe within walking distance of the Plaza. You could enjoy an early dinner and then head over, or go out for a little something after dancing! Next date: August 9. There are small gaps between the wood planks so keep this in mind when choosing your shoes for the night.

Milonga Roma is on Roma Ave. at the rear of the former Bell Trading Post building at the corner of Central Ave & Laguna (Laguna is just west of a Dairy Queen, a few blocks east of Rio Grande Blvd). From the intersection of Central & Laguna, go north on Laguna. The street becomes Roma as it curves east. The address is posted on the wall next to the entrance gate.
