TCA Tango Milonga at the Old Mission Church in Corrales, Sat June 28, 8:00pm-midnight, 5220 Corrales Rd. $7/person. The Old Mission Church has a beautiful large dance floor with high ceilings, historic Southwest ambience & a balcony overlooking the dance floor! Potluck food & beverages (no alcohol, please). Directions from Alameda & NM 528: 3.2 miles north on Corrales Road, on the east side of the street, w/ plenty of parking behind the building. Look for luminarias in front.

The 9th annual Denver Labor Day Milonguero Tango Festival moves to ALBUQUERQUE this year, 8/27-9/1/08! A Tango festival "By Dancers; For Dancers" features non-stop parties for all tango dancers who love the social style of tango popular in the milongas of Buenos Aires: close, subtle & romantic. The milongas will feature some of the top DJs in the country. The teachers are known as community builders and entertainers. Attendance will be around 450-500, so Buenos Aires style floorcraft will be essential. The main venue will be the Albuquerque Hilton, w/ other venues for an outdoor milonga & Friday night — keep watching for exciting details as the date draws near.

"Corazón Tanguero," a radio program devoted to Argentine Tango, is on the air on 1st & 3rd Mondays on KUNM (89.9 FM), 7:30-8:00pm. Hosted by Jenny DeBouzek.

Lecture: Tango - Birth of a Passion, Sun June 1, 3:00-4:00pm at The Travel Bug, 839 Paseo De Peralta in Santa Fe. Presented by the Santa Fe Tango Education Program. The third of a three part series highlighting the evolution of Argentine tango music & dance from the 19th century to the second decade of the 20th century. Topics will include the origins & transformations of the music & dance, as well as the historical and
sociological context within which these transformations took place. Musical examples from lecturer Jorge Midon's extensive library will be used to illustrate the development of the unique hybrid we know today as Argentine Tango.
